In theHarry Potteruniverse , no group of people comes in for as much literary criticism as House Slytherin . There ’s some justification for this , considering the fact that they have bring forth some of the most notable villain of the wizarding world , including none other than Lord Voldemort himself . It ’s also not surprising that many of the Slytherins that appear are fabulously unsympathetic ; in fact , they ’re often the characters that audiences and lector have sex to hate .

However , it ’s also deserving look at those Slytherins who are in reality a fiddling likable ( and , think it or not , there are more than most hoi polloi assume ) .

Likable: Horace Slughorn

From the moment that he seem , Horace Slughorn is an affable and likeable fellow . This is for certain helped in the film versions by the fact that he ’s played by the delicious Jim Broadbent .

He is , of course , as ambitious as any other member of his house but , unlike them , he does seem to have something of a moral orbit . Thus , he finally confesses to Harry that he was the onewho gave Tom Riddle the knowledge that he needed to produce Horcruxes .

Can’t Stand: Bellatrix Lestrange

There are quite a few villains that look during the course of the serial , but Bellatrix Lestrange istruly something else .

She ’s one of those villains that seems to survive simply for the pleasure of rack others . She in full pay herself to Voldemort and all of his ambitiousness , which mean that there is very little , if anything , that she wo n’t do in the pastime of his heart and approval , admit murdering her own first cousin Sirius Black in cold stock ( decidedly one of her more heinous crimes ) .

Likable: Severus Snape

Severus Snape is a man of phenomenal complexness . While he did for a timeturn to the dark side , it was dearest that eventually bring him back into the service of process of the Order of the Phoenix .

Fans go on to debatewhether or not he was a wedge or a villain(or something in - between ) , but it has to be allege that , despite his sometimes cruel behavior , he is still a likable character , particularly as impersonate by Alan Rickman in his various photographic film appearances .

Can’t Stand: Lord Voldemort

Lord Voldemort is one of the moststraightforwardly evil charactersto have ever appeared in a phantasy novel . He ’s not content with simply govern the wizarding world ; he goes out of his path to control that muggles are made as miserable as potential .

He also has no queasiness about murder and torturing anyone who gets in his mode , even those who he thinks have been his most loyal servants . His execution of Snape in the concluding novel is but the most notorious example of the manner that he rewards those who are faithful to him .

Likable: Narcissa Black

Most of those who herald from the noble wizarding families are incredibly unpleasant people , who go out of their way to be cruel not just to muggle - born magician and witch , but also to wizarding families that they do n’t consider to be up to snuff . One episodic exception to that is Narcissa bleak .

Though she is n’t precisely likable , it ’s worth luff out that she does a great plenty of good in the novel , especially when she connives with Harry to convince Voldemort that he is , in fact , quite dead .

Can’t Stand: Lucius Malfoy

Narcissa ’s husband Lucius , however , is a very different sort of person . Possessed of all of the lordliness that his wealth and blood line give him , he looks down on almost everyone with whom he come into physical contact .

There ’s a lot to dislike about this character , rate from the way that he treat the Weasleys to his notorious torture of his sign elf Dobby . The most frustrating matter , though , is that somehow he manages to escape mostly unscathed from his alliance with Voldemort .

Likable: Draco Malfoy

It might seem counterintuitive to intimate thatDraco Malfoy , who has all of the unpleasant characteristics of the rest of his family , would be likable . The accuracy is , though , that he is . Part of this is the fact that he ’s played by Tom Felton , who manages to permeate the character with at least a bit of charm .

More than that , though , is the feeling that the viewer get that he ’s very much an unwilling political party to his folk ’s confederation with Voldemort , and it ’s hold to believe about what he might have become had he not been so beholden to his family accolade .

Can’t Stand: Dolores Umbridge

Voldemort may be the most evil character to appear in the books , but aclose second is Dolores Umbridge .

Like so many other members of Slytherin , she really does seem to take a lot of pleasure in torment others , particularly after she take over as Headmistress of Hogwarts . She ’s one of those character that most people have a go at it to detest , in part because she does n’t really seem to have a lot of depth or nuance . There ’s no denying , though , that Imelda Staunton ’s portrayal of her is extraordinary .

Likable: Regulus Black

Regulus Black , like most of the other extremity of his crime syndicate , was originally quite taken with Voldemort and his mission . It ’s gradually revealed , however , that he turn on his headmaster and ended up doing everything in his power to demolish his Horcruxes .

Though he really only play a tangential role in the series as a whole , there ’s no deny that he has the distinction of being one of the very few member of House Slytherin that is actually noble and more than a bit likable .

Can’t Stand: Vincent Crabbe

Crabbe and Goyle are , of course , Draco ’s cronies , and they are very much his accomplices in most of the roguery that he tries to create at Hogwarts .

Crabbe is notoriously brutal in his methods , and he seems to have a scrap of an border on his married person in criminal offense Goyle in terms of how unspeakable he is . fortuitously , he ’s not given a lot of deepness as some of the other villain , so it ’s very easy for readers and viewers to strenuously dislike him .
