Screen Rantinterviewed Jessica Henwick and   Regé - Jean Page about their villainous turn inThe Gray Man , turn with the Russo buddy , and the joys ofnotbeing part of the picture ’s many insane action sequences .

Screen Rant : I really enjoyedThe Gray Man . Action - compact on a planetary scale . Jessica , you ’re no stranger to big franchises , but what ’s it like act with the Russos on something on this level ?

Jessica Henwick : Amazing . There ’s a ground why they ’re at the top of the game . I think they ’re both so so gifted . It ’s a great preindication when you see music director that role player repeatedly solve with and I infer why now . They ’re really collaborative , very generous . They would ply us with sugar on set .

Regé - Jean Page : ( laughs ) I think that ’s the closed book . The actor come back for the umber .

Jessica Henwick : That is addicted .

Regé - Jean Page : Copious amounts of chocolate in the Russos ' originative appendage .

Jessica Henwick as Suzanne Brewer

And how was working with the Russos for you , Regé ?

Regé - Jean Page : It was fantastic . There ’s an unbelievable creative freedom work with these guys . I suppose the very first conversations with them were all about – They said , " We want you to get half-baked with this character . We desire you to have fun . We need you to institute something unexpected and something exciting . " And they made really safe on their hope .

Everyone on that curing had the outer space to be incredibly creative and their standards were so mellow . Also , these guy wire are only push themselves at this power point . There ’s nothing in film that they have n’t done . There ’s no size of action moving picture or succession they have n’t made . So they ’re kind of labour their own records at this full stop . And being a part of that is a no - brainer .

Rege-Jean Page in The Gray Man

You ’re both the villains of the piece . What pull in you both to act as bad guys in this one ?

Jessica Henwick : It ’s more fun . It ’s more fun .

Regé - Jean Page : Oh , it ’s so much more fun !

The Gray Man

Jessica Henwick : I ’m just sadI did n’t get a mustache .

Regé - Jean Page : I think , we could organize that .

Jessica Henwick : I was the only villain without a mustache .

Regé - Jean Page : I mean , technically , it was more of a goatee state of affairs [ with   Regé ’s part ] , you know ? I ’m not gon na take this mustache slander .

But you guys are also kind of the smartest ones . The moving picture has 9 massive set spell , incredible action , violence , things detonate , but you guys were smart because you kind of detain out of it .

Regé - Jean Page : We ’re above this . We do n’t get our hands dirty with the stuff the troglodytes deal with .

Jessica Henwick : We ’ve been doing this a while . We be intimate what ’s up .

And you ’d just come offThe Matrix , veracious ? You had your fill of action ?

Jessica Henwick : I had my fill . I had a couple of injuries , and I say to my federal agent I want to do a role where I ’m seated or standing in every scene . I do n’t require to move , I do n’t want to run , I do n’t want to struggle . And they say , " Here ’s the biggest action pic Netflix has ever made . "

Regé - Jean Page : Why do n’t you go do that ?

Jessica Henwick : Go do that . And I read it and I fell in love with it .

Both your villains are very intelligent but also really kind of on the vile side . I ’d say Carmichael is particularly foul . Was that playfulness for you to play ?

Regé - Jean Page : A-one playfulness . The biggest difference between scoundrel and heroes to my mind is that scoundrel do n’t have moral blockage between them and their goals . And so you kind of have more open landing field to run into . you may really lean into stress to regain a tier of crookedness that an consultation can enjoy . There ’s an escape to enjoying people being bad . So you ’re trying to serve that up .

In the next one , would you care to get need in the natural action and really oppose Ryan inThe Gray Man 2 ?

Jessica Henwick : Do you want to do action ?

Regé - Jean Page : I ’d take everything . I do n’t mind causing the explosions in the background as the puppet master . It ’s the difference between being Nick Fury in the background or being Thanos in the background . Like , which elbow room is this gon na go ? Who knows ?
